R. Sax, our beloved aunt and friend passed away at age 80 on Wednesday, Oct.
5, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital from her battle with cancer. She was greatly
loved and will be missed by all. She
was born July 29, 1925 in Duluth to Beatrice and Erich Rehbein. Leverne
graduated from Central High School and worked at S.S. White Dental Supply in
Duluth for 32 years. She spent years caring, loving and helping her family as
well as her many friends. She was always there when needed and was considered
mother Teresa to her family. She was affiliated with Channel 8 Public
television, and involved with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Tweed Museum
and Medical School Scholarship program. She
was preceded in death by her husbands, Theodore (Ted) Couture in 1975 and Dr. Milton Sax; parents; and sisters, Grace Novak,
Dorothy Kern. Leverne
is survived by her three nephews, Col (Ret) Walter ''Corkey'' Novak of
Layton, Utah., John Novak of Duluth, and Pastor Lynn Kern of Cloquet, Minn.;
as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews. She had no children, but
has a godchild, Sandy (Olstrom) Johnson. Leverne was an active and life long
member of First Presbyterian Church in Duluth. FRIENDS MAY VISIT: with the family at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St., Duluth on Monday Oct. 10, 2005 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Graveside services will follow at 1 PM at Park Hill Cemetery, 2500 Vermilion Rd. in Woodland. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Leverne's loving memory and in care of First Presbyterian Church, 300 E. 2nd St., Duluth.
